Radiant floor heating?

Discuss.

  1. If I were building a house from scratch - rather than incrementally re-building a 110-year old one - I would definitely do radiant floor heating. In Indiana you might even get enough sun-days to have it make sense to partially fuel it with sun-power.

I've lived in a house with this kind of heat. The quality of the heat is wonderful - no drafts or dust. It was great when my kids were little and playing on the floors. And my feet loved it - you could go barefooted in the winters without feeling chilled or having to really crank up the heat.

Warm floors also mean no need to carpet unless you want to. Myself, I would want to lay in a bunch of terrazzo/floor mosaics instead of carpets any day.
